You will typically find two types of hammocks from Mexico: cotton hammocks and nylon hammocks.
Cotton Hammocks are of natural cotton fiber thread and conforms to your body. Because cotton is naturally soft, it feels like a soft mattress when lying in it. The colors are pleasing to the eye and the end strings are always made of strong nylon. The colors on Cotton Hammocks fade with time if left outside, but if taken care of properly it will last for many years. It is great for both indoor and outdoor use.
Nylon Hammocks are made of man-made fibers that do not stretch or conform to the body as does a cotton hammock. A nylon hammock feels like a firm mattress and does not stretch. The nylon hammock withstands weather and winds better than cotton hammocks. Nylon hammocks are incredibly comfortable and the threads are very strong. It is very hard for a nylon thread to break.
Cotton and Nylon hammocks are unique and no two hammocks are the same. There are no standard colors or color patterns. The type of hammocks you will typically find are the undyed natural color hammock, the solid color hammock, and the very festive and beautiful multi-color hammock.
Because the hammocks are handmade in several different villages in Mexico, no two hammocks will have the same exact color patterns.
