From the Brown Suits... Hammocks are for relaxing. Do not spin, stand on, rotate or twist. Supervise children at all times. Customer assumes all liability from use and installation of hammock.
Impressions...When people initially look at a Mayan hammock they typically think it is uncomfortable and that it will hurt your back. The Mayan hammock may not look like the hammocks you've seen before, but they are very comfortable and are totally opposite of initial reactions.
Many people that have used the mayan hammock say how good their backs feel after resting in one. Once you get into a mayan hammock you won't want to get off.
Use... Unlike other hammocks that use spreader bars and tend to flip, the mayan hammock is more stable and comfortable, and won't eat into your skin. These hammocks are flexible and strong and support your body evenly. Just take a siesta in one and you will see.
hammock relaxation
The traditional hammock has hundreds of fine threads that give it a tight mesh. This makes it look like its sagging. Once you lie in it though you will feel the difference. To lie in the hammock first find and sit in the middle of it along the edge. Then grab the edge of the other side of the hammock behind you pull it over your head. Lie back on it until comfortable, lift your legs, bend your knees, and put your feet on the edge. Now you can stretch and get comfortable. The hammock is now perfectly shaped to your body. Just remember to take off your shoes, your belt (or anything else that will snag and break the threads), grab your favorite book and enjoy.
Care Tips... Your mayan hammock will last for years if you take good care of it. Remember that cotton fades over the years if left outside so bring the hammock in doors when it rains, snows, etc.. If you purchase a nylon hammock, it will tolerate climate changes better and can take more abuse than a cotton hammock.
Be careful with buttons... They will snag on your hammock and may break a thread when pulled (If this happens simply grab both ends and tie back together). Take off your shoes or any other items that can snag on your hammock. Unless you leave in the state of Yucatan Mexico, it will be difficult to find a hammock repair shop in Boston or New York.
Storing and Washing...When the hammock is not in use avoid tangling the end-strings. To do this keep the loops away from the body by bringing both ends together and hanging them from the loops. When storing it simply make a knot close to the loops. Do the same when you need to wash it. Just swish it around in a bucket with lukewarm water and mild soap, rinse and hang. Always make sure your hammock is completely dry before you store it.
