Hanging Hammock Chairs and Hammocks

Please be careful when using your hammock. Supervise children at all times.

Do you want to hang your hammock or hammock chair using a rope instead of hardware? Then simply follow the instructions below for a good hanging method using rope.

1) For hanging hammocks you would need anywhere from 12 to 14 feet of clearance.

2) To hang your hammock chair you will need a cross beam or tree limb that is 6 to 8 feet from the ground. But you can hang it lower or higher, it's your preference.

A) You will need two 8ft pieces of 1/2 inch nylon rope (or similar) for the hammock ( You only need one 8ft piece for the hammock chair)

B) Fold the 8ft rope in half.

C) Insert one half of the rope into the hammock/hammock chair loop.

D) Grab both ends of the rope and pull them over the loop and then through it.

E) Pull both ends of rope tightly.

F) Pull both ends of the rope to the back of the tree/post/crossbeam.

G) Now tie an overhand knot as illustrated. Adjust the height desired and then pull the rope tight.

H) Pull both ends of the rope to the front again and cross both rope ends under the rope work already done.

I) Take both rope ends outward and above the existing rope work.

J) Tie an overhand knot here.

K) Pull the rope ends to the back again and tie two overhand knots.

L) You're done. Now you are ready to enjoy your hammock or hammock chair.
